Adult Church School Classes

                                                      Sundays from 9:45 – 10:45 AM

 Adult Discussion Class:  Room 109

Led by John and Syd Lubkin, this class will study Margines by Richard Swenson. When there isn't enough time, money, physical or emotional energy to accomplish the tasks of a given week or month, then system failure is on its way (or has already happened). This study helps participants work through the issues that create overload in all of these areas. It is based on Dr. Richard Swenson's best-selling book Margin and its companion book, The Overload Syndrome. Groups will find this a useful tool for preventing negative stress and restoring margin to their lives.

Foundations Class:  Fellowship Hall

Led by Joan Keefe, Allie Guile, and Joe Perkins, this class will study Ephesians:  N.T. Wright for Everyone Bible Studies.  Have you noticed how sometimes you have a story in the back of your mind that keeps coming up, even when you’re talking about something else?  In Ephesians, throughout its worship, prayer and instructions for living, Paul can’t contain his joy and amazement at the larger story of God’s plan to save us in Jesus the Messiah.  These eleven studies from Tom Wright will help us see the significance of our role in God’s grand narrative, and encourage us to live more fully as people who are lavishly loved by God.

*Foundations Class Schedule:

July 11- Sept 12  Study of the Book of Ruth

Sept 19 and 26    Video of Ruth

Oct 3                   Begin study of Ephesians

Serendipity Class:  Room 103

Led by Ricky Akers, this class will study Job with the Interpretation Bible Study Series (WJK).  The book of Job is a powerful story of deep faith in tragic times. In a larger sense, it is the story of each of us who ever tried to make sense of apparently senseless suffering.  In this study, noted Old Testament scholar and Christian educator David Hester focuses on the difficult questions raised in Job: Where is God in the worst moments of our emptiness?  What are we to do when experience casts doubt on what we have always believed?  Where in the world is justice?  The author brings to this writing his own experience of suffering.  His touching honesty provides a moving connection between the ancient text and the world of today, inviting us to join in Job's search for hope and healing.

Choir: Choir Room

Led by Ann Mecherle and Nan Krueger, this class will study James:  Putting Faith to Work by Abingdon Press.  James focuses on how Christians are called to live out their faith commitment. Lessons explore how faith grows out of trials endured and temptations overcome; how Christians live with integrity in their relationships; the affirmation that faith and good works are inseparable; how to act with the gentle, peaceable and caring wisdom that comes from above; and ways to deepen our capacity and strengthen our resolve to do right.
